Excellent photos! However, your "Short-tailed Hawks" are actually juvenile light-morph Swainson's Hawks. They are seen every year in the Lucky Hammock area with numbers greatest in the fall. Notice the cream-colored underside and dark secondaries. The wings are also longer than a Short-tailed Hawk's. One year, we had as many as three dozen flying around the ag fields directly east of the hammock, were construction for the C-111 spreader canal is taking place. Several of these hawks were on the ground!
