I was thinking in the shower, because my singing is that bad, about the AOU's decision to split the Greater flamingo into American flamingo in the New World and the Greater flamingo of the Old and how it relates to the flock at HIaleah. The official Hialeah Racetrack web site simply says that all the birds were hatched at the racetrack. Does anyone know from which population the original flock originated?
