I made an early morning trip to Royal Palm to see if I could find the La Sagra's Flycatcher found by LM this week. I did not find it, but had a pleasant morning regardless. The strangler fig near the buildings had Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Gray Kingbird (2), and Great Crested Flycatcher. Several Great Cresteds were building a nest nearby, and Carolina Wren, Northern Parula and White-eyed Vireo were all singing. A walk on the boardwalk yielded Least Bittern and Smooth-billed Ani (near the spur trail at the lake, not at the gator viewing platform).
I checked the Hidden Lake road for the La Sagra's as well.
Finally, I made a pass on the Long Pine Key road in the outside shot at spindalis; no luck but there were singing Eastern Towhees and Pine Warblers.
