The female Western Spindalis that Simon Buckingham found yesterday in Bill Baggs Cape Florida SP continues today (4/6). I saw it off and on in the same tree (Strangler Fig) from 9:40-10:50 AM. This terrible photo shows the small white wing patch and drab color. Carlos took a couple of good photos and will post them later. Simon was there and showed us his excellent photos.
The La Sagra's made an appearance at 9:55 just barely south of the white gate area.
Also in the fruiting fig were: Black-throated Blue, Northern Parula, Palm, Worm-eating and 2 very interesting male Prairie Warblers with bright orange faces and throats. One had a more intense face pattern but both were attention-getting. Liz and Erica saw the less-orange bird yesterday. We showed Simon the warblers and he feels that what first appeared to be a Blackburnian, is probably the brighter of the two Prairies.
