The description of the Prairie Warblers seem to fit the description of Prairie Warblers seen breeding in the many Keys of FL Bay. There are some researchers that have been aware of the birds for a while now and have been looking them. We were supposed to go out with them last spring to capture photos and video of these birds.
One thing about the birds is that they believe the plumage is only orange for a very small window of time. So if you were looking in these keys for the birds at any other time of year they would look like our FL Prairie Warblers. If someone can get enough data that points to a new species or subspecies they may be able to pick up a grant to study the population. We have not seen these birds to comment on our experience, this information is solely word of mouth.
