Tom,

Notice the pelvic fins on the underside of the fish and its laterally-compressed body. This fish is a sunfish of the genus Lepomis, family Centrarchidae.

The "plecostomus" catfishes are shaped differently, with their pelvic fins extending out much farther, like a shark's. The species of suckermouth catfish we have in Florida is known as the Orinoco sailfin catfish, Pterygloplicthys multiradiatus. It is found in pretty much the southern half of the peninsula. Other species are P. disjunctivus, also found in Florida, and P. anisitsi, which I've seen in great numbers in Texas reservoirs. Plecostomus is a generic pet-trade name.
