Also, I forgot to mention that I could not see any sign of a black line extending from the eye to the base of the bill in any of these birds.
This is an ID clincher for Chipping Sparrow. Granted, I could not put the scope on these birds and so all my viewing was done from binoculars. Although the lighting was perfect, there is a chance I could have missed this field mark.
