I'd like to second Rock's comments on reporting exotic species, not just Egyptian geese, but all exotics.

Egyptian geese are of interest since they may be expanding their distribution. Most of the records in our database are from urban Miami-Dade and Broward counties, but there are verified records up the east coast to Brevard County, Lake and Marion counties, and the west coast around Charlotte Harbor and Tampa Bay. Most of these are associated with parks, golf courses, etc., but we have records in more remote, "wild" areas like WCA-2 and Viera Wetlands in Brevard County. Now a record from ENP.

The take-home message is to report what you find. Too many times exotic species "fly under the radar" until they become a problem. Hopefully programs like ECISMA (EDDMapS) and our database will allow managers to identify problems before they become unmanagable.

EDDMapS and the FWC share data so reporting an exotic species to either will update both databases. My contact information is below if you want to send the information to me. You can drop me an e-mail with the species, date, location, numbers (approximate is OK), and any other information you think may be important. GPS coordiantes for the location would be great, but I can generate lat/lon from a good description. You can send photos, but the FWC has a 10MB limit on messages. You may have to send large photos separately.

Thanks in advance for any help, and keep on looking. We need all the eyes-in-the-field we can get.

Regards and good birding,
Larry Connor
