I would like to comment on Egyptian Geese (EGGE) since there are a couple of great recent posts on the topic. I'd like to ask folks to please record and report all sightings of EGGE.

A little over a week ago, we recorded what could possibly be the first sighting of EGGE in Everglades National Park. At least nine were photographed in Pine Glades Lake. Those of you who know the park well know that this location is way well inside.

Unlike domesticated birds like the Muscovy Duck, EGGE are wild-type feral escapees and have formed self-sustaining populations wherever they have been introduced. Such may be the case here.

It is important to keep the EGGE population in check. Thanks to help from the birding community, the Sacred Ibis has been nearly, if not all-together, eradicated.

You can report your sightings at www.evergladescisma.org. A quick registration will provide you with a user name and password and then you're on your way. Remember, you can report any exotic species in this website (like pythons and monitors for instance - let's not forget those).

Cheers and Good Birding,
-RJ
