Especially for visiting birders, I found a White-winged Parakeet roost last weekend. Due to some posting trouble, I could post despite several tries on two seperate days.

From I-95, exit North 95th street and head east about a mile or less to North Miami Avenue (there will be a light there). Turn right and head south and cross the small bridge. Once in the area of 87th street, cruise this road with the windows down or cracked. The birds are very vocal and active in the late afternoon and before dusk. Cruise up and down this road, mostly between 87th and 84th street along North Miami Avenue. One thing to consider though is that this is a more lower-income area called Little Haiti, but looks rougher than it actually is. Don't leave your car or be an obvious tourist, and you should be just fine. There are about fourty parakeets in the area, with five or so being Yellow-chevroned.

I have not found a reliable Spot-breasted Oriole location in Miami Shores yet, but I did here two calling around the intersection of NE 92 Street and NE 4 Avenue in Miami Shores. Monk, Red-masked, and White-eyed Parakeets are almost always flyovers in this area, and anywhere around Miami Shores can produce these birds, as well as Orange-winged Parrots and Chesnut-fronted Macaws.
