Kitty Suarez and I spent several hours looking
for the masked duck reported from a little wetland in Broward County without any luck. It was midday and
very hot. Other birds were present, including Purple
swamp hen with young, both gallinules, least bittern, mottled duck, and a pied-billed grebe family complete
with black and white striped juveniles.
The wetland is on Sheridan Street about 1/2 mile
west of I-75, and immediately adjacent to the southwest regional library.
