This is a report on the Masked Duck that Kevin Sarsfield and I located and identified at the wetland mentioned by Steve Siegel. There is a boardwalk into the wetland. Take the right fork to the end. The bird was seen about 100 feet from the boardwalk slightly west of due north between 9:30 and 10:00 am, 5/19/2001. There is a small arrow on the boardwalk rail pointing to where the bird was seen. The bird (male)was very cryptic except for its flamboyant bill and remained motionless until it disappeared. My advice is to try different angles looking into the windows in the vegetation hoping to pick up the bill color. "Clean lenses and quick focusing!"
