Hi all,
On the spur of the moment, my wife and I have decided to visit Dade County over the next few days. It is time I knock my #1 grudge bird off my list...after 30 years! (Any advice is appreciated.) Also hope for Black-whiskered Vireo, Gray Kingbird, and Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow. I've been to the Everglades many times before, but usually too early for these species.
Anyway, I lead tours in northern New England, and the recent misidentification of the "Kirtland's Warber" reminds me of my #1 rule for my tour groups: BE WRONG FAST! It is better to get everybody onto a questionable bird than to wait for certainty and let it get away from the group. Accordingly, I am wrong a LOT...but fast. I applaud wrong. Thanks for sharing.
