I never quite understood why the ABA has Scarlet Ibis on its list. The bird's range begins in northern South America/Trinidad and Tobago. It isn't present in any of the Greater Antilles, the Yucatan, or the other Central American countries.
Are there accepted records of genuine vagrants? I think there was an effort to introduce the bird in Miami-Dade county at one point -- did the ABA make these "countable" like the Red-whiskered Bulbuls, etc?
They are extremely popular in zoos...except that Metro Zoo, at least since my last visit a couple months ago, does not have Scarlet Ibis in any of their exhibits. Maybe I missed them, but do you mean Sacred Ibis, Georgiana?
