A better orchid tree to plant than the "white orchid tree" (which is an albino form of Bauhinia variegata) is the true Hong Kong Orchid Tree (Bauhinia x blakeana). The Hong Kong Orchid Tree flowers in the winter as well, plus it's a sterile hybrid. Bauhinia variegata is listed as an invasive species by the Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council due to its weediness and its ability to invade natural habitats.

Sounds like that was one lucky dove! My yard looks like a pillow fight has been going on, what with all the dove feathers...compliments of a Cooper's hawk.
