I called this a Southern Ringneck Snake based on range. The books say that the Northern Ringneck Snake only ranges down to northern Georgia, and that the Southern Ringneck is the species found in Florida. I found one reference that stated that specimens in the Keys have broken rings, while those on the Florida peninsula may have complete rings. Yet the books mostly say that the distinguishing mark of Northerns is that they have a complete ring. Which species is this, found in southern Broward County?
