The only concern I have about the photographers is the trampling down of the vegetation surrounding the pond in an effort to get closer. I have seen this happening first hand so there is no denying that one.
Please respect the habitat as well as the birds, and if necessary buy a BIGGER lens :-)
Luckily the Least Grebes appear to be very tolerant of people. Indeed they are probably benefiting from the number of visitors who are unintentionally deterring avian and other predators that are less tolerant of people.
Although they are not likely to be used at the Least Grebes, the use of ipods by photographers and birders is getting out of control. It should be noted that in Everglades National Park, use of recordings to "lure" wildlife is an offence for which you will be ticketed and fined. Hopefully the same law will soon be applied to State and County Parks. The advent of the ipod age does have one huge benefit to birders -- the ability to carry your bird song library in the field for quick review and confirmation of ID ... just make sure to use the headphones!
