I haven't birded in the last 5 days, but somebody threw me a little bone today with a lot of activity at the feeder. I pulled into the driveway this afternoon and took a quick peek at the feeders. I saw only one bird: a female House Finch. This is a pretty good bird for the county and a new yardbird for me. I watched the feeders for a while after that and never saw it again, but did see the following:

Painted Buntings (male and female)
Nutmeg Mannikins (couple dozen at least)
Red-winged Blackbirds
Common Grackles
Cardinals
Blue Jays
Mourning and White-winged Doves
Blue-gray Gnatchater (in a firebush)
Palm Warbler (in a small oak)

Also saw a Ruby-throated Hummingbird on one of my firebush, but she wasn't comfortable with all the other birds perched on the same bush waiting for their turn on the feeders. Now I know why my feeders go empty each day. Please send your donations to the "Toe Is Paying for Bird Seed Out of the Wazoo Fund."
