Do you have breeding Gray Catbirds at Hoechoka Hammock? According to the Florida Breeding Bird Atlas, Gray Catbirds do not breed in south Florida. For more information, click on "Florida Breeding Bird Atlas" in the News and Information section of the TAS homepage.

: The recent rainfall and hard winds have severely interrupted the nesting in our north Broward area of 24 acres. The cardinals have lost their brood, the red-bellied woodpecker nest that we had hopes for was washed out, and there is only one baby dove when normally we see 20-25 at our feeders. The canals are up about 2 1/2 feet and our measured rain for the seven day period was 18 inches. The screech owls have disappeared, and even the starlings seemed to have been hit hard. Only a few babies about. Mockingbirds were fledged about 30 days past and we had about 10 from three separate nest sites. Paired brown thrashers, killdeer, catbirds, red-winged are all about but there are no fledglings at all. It is turning out to be a very unproductive spring.
