I came home from a trip to see the Least Grebes and found Rafael's post about the Rufous at Castellow.
As it turns out , I live close to Castellow and have had a rufous in my yard for a couple of days. I went and looked outside and found my little guy happy in his chinese hat plant so I ambled over to Castellow to find this bird. Lucky for me it was the first hummer I spotted when I walked to the firebush island. Lucky because there are more than a dozen hummers thru out Castellow .The chatter will make you deaf and the spinning around to try and follow the birds will make you dizzy. At least it did to me. It was waay cool.
I also saw Ovenbirds-2 , Black throated Blue m&f,BGGs,yellowstarts, prairie and probably a Tennessee. Dipped on the thrushes.Again. The large hawk probably didn't help any.
