How are they able to respond so quickly to prey availability? These guys must have been in nymph stage for some time before emerging.
But if the nymphs were feeding on juvenile midges, perhaps the two populations are well-synched.
My birding has been slow, of late. Seems like switching to odes would make better use of my time outdoors. Especially if we are seeing them everywhere lately. I have heard that 'dragonflying' is the new birding.
