I wish I knew, but I agree with your observation. I haven't had anything at my feeder in weeks, and this included cardinals, doves, and spice finches. I usually have wintering painted buntings, but they were here in October and left late in November. The Yellow-rumped have not returned to my neighbor's oaks, wintering warbler numbers seem to be way down. I remember my second birding trip in January 1999 to Royal Palm. The place was alive with birds, with many species of warblers, a couple vireos, hermit thrushes in the hammock and along the Ingraham Hwy, and oh yes, a Stripe-headed Tanager. Now Royal Palm seems dead. Where HAVE all the birds gone?
