Bird presence increasing: North Broward PArkland

In and around Hoechoka Hammock, cooper's hawk, several red-shouldered hawk; dove numbers have doubled in the last 10 days, red winged blackbirds numbers increasing but little or no calling from them; palm warblers more frequent, spot-breasted orioles seen several times, Vultures, turkey and black vultures seen at high altitude drifting southward. Mottled ducks in the canals. Blue jays, almost beyond count (they crowd the feeders and fight each other off)

Missing: catbirds, only one. Cardinals only two. Mockingbirds and thrashers are just the resident ones.

Our records show much more activity this time last year in all of these species.

AND, oddly Eastern narrow mouthed toads are in great numbers. What gives there?
