I stopped to get rained on and look for the Blue-winged Warbler early this morning at the Matheson Service Road. The walk down to the open area produced at least 10 Waterthrushes and even more Ovenbirds. I didn't scan the understory for any other goodies, but I'm sure the skulkers were here in force. The open area with the deep puddles had plenty of birds, but no Blue-winged. I did see a male Rufous Hummingbird chasing a Ruby-throated around. At first I didn't give it much attention since everything other than Blue-winged was just blah, blah, blah. Trey jusc called to say he saw the Rufous, and I realized it's a year bird for me. So, gues what, there's a Rufous Hummingbird at Matheson!! Hooray for the Rufous!

I'll try again for the Blue-winged tomorrow.
