We birded AD Barnes today from about 12:30 to 2:30pm.
We ran into father son team Ruben & Dan shortly before we headed out to Matheson Hammock.

At AD Barnes we observed a Worm-eating Warbler in the tree tops pulling caterpillar from underneath leaves as it squirmed as it was being swallowed. We were excited to see our FOS Summer Tanager for a brief but enjoyable moment. There possibly could have been 2 but she was hanging close to the many Red-eyed Vireo to be able to confirm as they flew to the next tree. We also stumbled upon an unfamiliar noise which ended up being 2 noisy Racoons mating. Yeah...then we headed out to Matheson.

At Matheson we fished and birded from the beach area to the entrance from 4:20 to 6:45pm and then until sundown birded the west nature trail.

We were able to make 2 lifers the Ruddy Turnstone and Spotted Sandpiper. We enjoyed watching the Turnstones as they foraged the rocks in search of dinner turning over any stones they thought may hold their next snack. Now we know how they got their name! They were spotted alongside 60+ Laughing Gulls, 12 Semi-palmated Plover, 15 Least Sandpiper.
The Spotted Sandpiper reminded us of a see-saw and we enjoyed watching the bobbing dance.
We really enjoyed our day today observing many species with many different characteristics.
The 3 Hill Mynas calling out were spotted by the entrance across from the pond on our way out to the west nature trail. As we made our way to the trails across from the Fairchild we saw some Chimney Swifts and two nighthawks that were to fast for me to indentify correctly but we noticed the wing bars were close to the ends of the wings and the birds looked slightly smaller that a common. Overall a great day birding.
