Angel and Mariel,

Jeff saw White-tailed Kites, not Swallow-tailed Kites, although they are both beautiful birds. On August 4 a group of us saw one White-tailed Kite on the south side of Holeyland/Rotenberger Road (thanks for the sharp eye Bonnie). The open fields between the urban areas and the Everglades are the best place to see these, but they are not at all abundant. Formerly called Black-shouldered Kite.

We also had some snake encounters on Holeyland/Rotenberger, but Alex will have to tell you what they were.
