To the best of my recollection - and its getting fuzzier with age - the two species of snakes we saw were Peninsula Ribbon Snake (Thamnophis sauritus) and Florida Banded Water Snake (Fasciata pictiventris). Five-lined Skinks were also seen. The White-tailed Kites being seen at the Holeyland site may be descendants of the first confirmed breeding record in Florida in 1986 - my lifer - after a major decline of this species in Florida in the 20th century. Life is good........ knowing that Alex will probably read this and allow his youthful exuberance and far greater knowledge of herpetology to set the record straight.
