At about 11:20 this morning (Friday 6/7/22) I found a Bahama Mockingbird at H. T. Birch State Park along the eastern part of the Scenic Drive. The bird was about 150 yards north of the first fire hydrant past the diagonal parking for the main central picnic area. There is a cluster of about ten tall Australian Pine stumps about fifty feet south of the birds location. The Bahama Mockingbird first was seen on the ground beside the road then flew into the dense shrubbery alongside the road where it sat tight and allowed close approach and was photographed. There was also a family group of Northern Mockingbirds nearby but they were not particularly aggressive toward it. H. T. Birch State Park is located on the north side of the east end of Sunrise Boulevard between the Intracoastal Waterway and the A1A in Broward County.
