Sorry folks, but this Saturday's TAS trip is to Marco Island via Tamiami Trail (US 41), not Government Road. I include Government Road (also known as Snake Road or CR 833) in my Corkscrew Swamp/Marco Island itinerary, which was last scheduled this past September.
For this trip, we will leave Doc Thomas House at 6:30 AM. Our first stop will be at the Miccosukee restaurant across from Shark Valley. We'll look for Snail Kites, etc. along the stretch of US 41 from the restaurant to Big Cypress National Preserve. For anyone who wants to meet us at the restaurant, we should arrive somewhere around 7:15 AM. Other stops will include Kirby Storter Wayside, Big Cypress Bend Boardwalk, Eagle Lakes Park and Tigertail Beach. Remember to bring lunch, water, sunscreen and footwear you can get wet(for Tigertail Beach.) Hope to see you there.
