duck i.d. help please

i posted this photo on another site and identified it as a mottled duck. it was suggested that instead it might be a mexican duck or mexican mallard. can anyone i.d. this bird and explain the difference? thanks! note: it was found at wakodahatchee, and i think it may have a bright blue patch behind it's wing.
