I was happy that the rain never came today. I spent the day birding and taking photos. I arrived before sunrise and hit Research Rd. looking for interesting stuff and wasn't disapointed. I saw a Barn Owl fly across the road, heard Common Nighhawks and other interesting stuff!! Yeah!!!

I also found 2 Bucks along the road near the missle base and got good photos and video.

I then headed to the pinelands to look for Bluebirds, Towee, Nuthatches and woodpeckers. Finding all I was looking for...

I headed south to check out Flamingo and Eco-pond. Eco-pond is stll a mess, but accessable. The water level was low and I found shorebirds where rails, Moorehens, coots and herons use to hang out. The reeds and other plants that boarded the pond are all dead. This makes it great for the shorebirds but not much else. I found Greater and Lesser Yellow-legs, Dowitchers, Dunlin and Killdeer. I also found Shoveler, Blue-wing Teal and Red-breasted Merganser. There were hundreds of Snowy Egrets roosting in the trees in the center of the pond.

I checked the shoreline by the picknic area and found shorebirds, terns, gulls and Osprey. I found a couple of birds that I'm not sure about the ID. My first impression was AGP, but I could be wrong. Look at the photo and let me know what you think.

Over all it was a fun day.

Merry Christmas to you all!
