I had a great time helping with the Long Pine Key CBC. I was placed on Brian Repoza's team with Toe and Matthew a UF Student.
We had the opportunity to watch and count the wading birds take off from their roost at Paurotis Pond, check Mahogany Hammock, Pa-hay-okee and all the small lakes and trails in that area.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that Robin did a great job organizing the event and Brian was a great team leader. Matthew did an exceptional job recording all the observations and Toe kept us all laughing and as usual helped located several species that would have otherwise been missed.
I only took a couple of photos and this one was the only one worth sharing. I was busy looking and counting. :)
I encourage those of you who haven't helped with one of the many Christmas Bird Counts to participate. I learned a lot during the day and had a blast doing so.
