A great egret flew onto the site and was skulking around the ornamental plants this afternoon. In a period of ten minutes it caught and ate two palm warblers. It wasn't totally apparent how the warblers were killed, but they appeared to be dead when they were swallowed a minute or two after being nabbed. They were very noisy when first caught. I imagine they were suffocated? The warblers were handled in the same manner as a fish, and swallowed whole -- head first, of course.
