For whatever reason, aviculturists have their own lingo when it comes to bird names. But the aviculturists' names are not the official English names as adotpted by the AOU.
Regrettably, even the parrot books by Joseph Forshaw (1970s, 2006) and Tony Juniper and Mike Parr (!998) use the aviculturists' lingo rather than the official names.
So, the aviculturists' "Green-cheeked Amazon" is really the Red-crowned Parrot. And their "conures" are really parakeets.
Quite confusing at times.
