I appreciate your suggestions in regard to ridding my woodpecker nest box of starlings. As for more than one nest box...I did have two until recently. One was old and had been visited by woodpeckers but they never set-up housekeeping. I believe it was to small. But, when I put up the new, larger nestbox, starlings took over the old one too! Depending on what happens now that I've removed their clutch(2)of eggs and nesting material, I will give your suggestion of fake eggs some very serious consideration. I'll keep you updated.
