How is it misleading? December 2010 was the coldest one in history based on average temperatures for the entire month. The weather setup was just perfect for a cold air intrusion to make its way this far south and persist for days. Trends in weather are based on averages over time -- not isolated events.

I will repeat again. Cold fronts alone are not going to bring the cold weather you are wishcasting. There is more to it.

No one is disagreeing with you that the weather is getting warmer. But you can also have a cold year interspersed within a general warming trend in the same way you can have a very inactive hurricane season interspersed with a decade of hyperactive seasons.

But has there ever been a correlation between cold weather in southeast Florida and the appearance of northern vagrants? I would think that weather events further north matter more than how cold it gets locally.
