Tragically, our owl nest box fell off a Slash Pine Saturday night. Inside where a few eggs, smashed by predators in the night.
I don't think a predator knocked it off the tree, I think it wasn't properly secured since the hurricane.
We cleaned it and placed a little fresh Sabal Palm fluff as was in with the eggs before, the fastened it securely back in the same place it has been for 3 years, on Sunday morning.
What are the chances of the Screech Owls having another try? Anyone have any tips or ideas?
They didn't use it last year,(squirrels got in first) but raised 4 birds the year before. I'll be watching and listening for the next several nights.
