Thursday, July 31, 2014, the Red-necked Stint was on the seaweed covering the beach or at the water s edge. For more than two hours it was very active - feeding and chasing sandpipers. It was still there when I left.

Red-necked Stint location: If one faced the beach from the place on the asphalt walkway, that is 40% of the total distance from point A to point B walking from point A, where point A is the end of the drivable road that is blocked by barricades and point B is the beginning of the concrete and stone wall on the beach side of the asphalt walkway, then one would have been facing the bird.

Driving directions: Take Overseas Hwy (US-1) to Big Coppitt Key near Key West, approximately mile marker 10. Look for Boca Chica Rd as you enter the key. There is a Circle K at the intersection. Turn south just before the Circle K and continue on Boca Chica Road until it ends, which will take you into Boca Chica Key.
