Well, "genetic rescue" or not, if the Florida Panther no longer has enough territory or habitat left to survive in the wild, it doesn't matter if we can "rescue" them otherwise! Read this:

: in which the authors describe how the introduction of Texas cougars has been a success. They also mention that prior to the reintroduction the FL panther had physiological abnormalities including the kinked tail. There are also nice range maps showing how the cats have expanded their range.
