Bananaquits are not known to be resident on Cuba. It does occur as a rare visitor, probably from the Bahamas or Caymans.
Oddly, Cuba is not ruled out as the origin point of the Bananaquit, which seems to have been in the Greater Antilles and/or Bahamas. The expansion to Central and South America occurred later (see link to Bellemain et al.).
