I photographed it Sat 7 June morning and afternoon from
a distance. The cormorants were on the far shore
so the photos are not great in quality.

I also heard an unfamiliar vocalization from an unseen bird. It was dove-like
in tone and consisted of slurred notes a (musical) third apart. First an up-slur,
a slight pause,
then a down-slur at the same frequency pair.
Each two-slur call lasted about a second, and
was repeated at about a two-second interval.
Does that sound familiar to anyone?
