I was at Matheson Saturday morning for about 2 hours, and about 1130 walked along Old Cutler Rd from the park to Fairchild. Just before reaching the main turn-in there were several flowering plants that hang over the wall (I believe this is in area behind cactus garden). I saw the BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD there along with 3-4 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. Identification was made by lack of any red in the gorget area, and by the vigorous tail-pumping when feeding (contrasted directly with feeding immature RTHUs, which as Bryant noted are beginning to show some flecks of red). I did not see it perched, as it seemed to be approaching from inside Fairchild (as opposed to RTHUs, which were either outside in trees or perched right among flowers).

I didn't see BBHU, and hearing it was impossible with car traffic on Old Cutler.

Matheson was fairly quiet (barring the chain saw cacophony working on the hammock), I birded mostly the west side. I had 6 warblers, including 3 Worm-eating, Parula, BT Blue, Yellowthroat, Ovenbird, and Yellow-rumped. I also saw male Painted Bunting, Chuck-will's-widow, White-crowned Pigeon. Surprisingly, neither Pileated Woodpecker nor any parrots were seen or heard, and they should be close to a lock on the west side.
