Stopped by Green Cay Wetlands again - was just there Friday, and had pretty good selections of the regulars and a few migrants, but today the migration activity was up.
Cedar waxwings still sticking around in the same spot, just west of the chickee hut...that tree was where a majority of the activity was too. Prairie warblers, palm warblers, norther parulas were mixed in - and several lovely male cape may warblers, which is a bird I don't see often - I've caught shots of two cape mays in the past in Green Cay, but always dull females, and often rear-end shots through the branches - these were lovely colored males and pretty well in the open. Also, at least one blackpoll warbler, along with two black-and whites.
Other stuff in the parks: red-shouldered hawk, plenty of purple martins, painted buntings are still hanging around at the south feeder, lots and lots of least bittern - must be at least 6 nesting pairs, lots of sora, purple swamphens still around, plenty of purple gallinules, black-necked stilts still nesting, some least sandpipers still around, two least terns hunting the main lake, a flock of 10-12 roseated spoonbills arrived around 3pm, ducks still mostly black-bellied whistlers and blue-winged teals and the usual mottleds.
