This pair of Sandhill Cranes has successfully raised colts for the past 3 years. They are good parents and nest on the small island near the south end of the gardens. They are from a rehab pair kept (without a permit) by a volunteer. I've heard that they are brother and sister and they are very aggressive toward the other cranes in the gardens, perhaps some of their grown-up youngsters. Jim King or Rangel Diaz may know more about the lineage story.
