Sunday just after midnight I had my neighborhood Common Nighthawk return...possibly just having arrived from South America. It was calling again at 6AM this morning and there were at least 3 hawking for insects over Black Point tonight.

Other weekend highlights include Scaly-headed Parrots at dusk on the UM campus (along with Spot-breasted Oriole). I also found the skulking Yellow-breasted Chat that has been at Cape Florida State Park (near the first coconut palm you encounter as take the nature trail west from the southern terminus). There were still 10 Piping Plover at Crandon Beach, along with a group of Semipalmated Plover, Least Sandpiper, Sanderling, and Least Tern. The Sandhill Cranes at Crandon Gardens had a young colt...do they nest here every year?
