Keep in mind there is a Black-chinned Hummingbird in the same area. The Black-chinned was more towards the Arid Rock Garden and I photographed it again around garden #27 and #32. If you go to Fairchild, you can easily find these stop numbers on the map or this site: http://www.fairchildgarden.org/images/gardenmap.gif
In my photos from last Monday, you can see the broad wing tips of the female Black-chinned Hummingbird, larger bill, and a grayer cap. When perched it would continuously flick it's tail, but in flight it was harder to see. At one point I saw it fan it's tail like an American Redstart or Hooded Warbler and move it's tail side to side.
I attempted to photograph the Buff-bellied, but it was not cooperative.
