We gathered at the Coe Visitors Center at 7:30, where we saw our only Sapsucker of the day, then headed off to Lucky Hammock. Although the number of warblers was small, we did get some quality birds including a male Wilson's Warbler and a Magnolia. Although there were numerous White-eyed Vireos present, we did not find the Bell's.

At the Annex, Pileated Woodpcekers were excataving a nest in one of the telephone poles. Some of the group saw a flyby Merlin. Otherwise, the birding was slow. Even vultures were hard to find.

We made a small detour on our way to the airport, stopping at David Schafter's house. He has both buntings and goldfinch coming to his feeder. A Yellow-throated Vireo was present. A poorly seen Ovenbird and a Black-and-white brought our warbler total to 9 species.

The Burrowing Owls were easily found at Homestead Airport. One was on the ground quite close to us, the other on top of the hanger door at the skydiving area. Eastern Meadowlark was also present.

We had our picnic lunch at Castellow Hammock. After much searching, we found a female likely Rufous Hummingbird, as well as Ruby-throates. A few Purple Martins were also flying around. Some of the group continued on to Dump Marsh, but I headed for home instead.
