A nice morning for a couple hours birding in the Chekika Unit of Everglades National Park. The highlight was a Dickcissel and a nice variety of sparrows (Lincoln's, Swamp, Savannah, and White-crowned) on the roadside junction at the southern terminus of the main park road (with the big NO SHOOTING painted in white on the asphalt).
An adult Bald Eagle was perched on a snag right by the road along the way. The entire area was rich in wetland bird species, particularly herons, egrets, and storks concentrating around shrinking areas of water.
The hammock itself was closed when I drove by at 10AM.
