I went over to Castellow this morning to look for the reported Black-chinned Hummer. Steve Siegel was already there when I arrived and Katrina Knight showed up later in the morning.
I stayed all morning but had no luck with the Black-chinned. At least 6 distinct Ruby-throateds were present: 2 adult males, 2 immature males with partial gorgets, 1 immature male with scattered dark throat feathers, and one female. There was one bird that briefly showed substantial tail (and body!) movement, but I think that reflected wind conditions. It wasn't the type of tail wagging usually seen with Black-chinned.
We saw six warbler species, including Tennessee! I don't know what is up with them this winter. Shortly before I left, a dark-morph Short-tailed Hawk flew over.
