Short Eared owl question

I was talking to a friend about Short eared owls and he informed me he has seen several outside of Everglades National Park in the past.

Also what time of day/night, and time of year is best for finding them here?

Do any of you know about finding Short eared owls in Florida, specifically in this area? As this is the first time I had heard of them down here. I know they are occasionally seen in dry Tortuas and key West, but ENP was news for me.
